The velodrome seats 1,000 spectators, but mobile bleachers can boost that number to 2,000. Starting in the fall of 2023, it will be one of two cycling tracks in Belgium capable of hosting European and World Track Cycling Championships. Something to look forward to.

At sports events where many people gather, fire safety is extremely important. KBS-Systems played an important role in the realization of the ‘velodrome’. This was achieved by taking on the fire compartmentation of the cycling track. The project included several important tasks, including:

• Sealing the steel beams crossing the fire walls and finishing them in a professional manner.
• Sealing the gaps between steel deck and wall to avoid overburden.
• Sealing the joints between wall and ceiling to prevent smoke and fire from spreading through this opening.

They also installed the 3m x 2m steel access door that will serve for deliveries.

Thanks to KBS-Systems’ expertise in fire protection, this project was able to be carried out in a safe and efficient manner, which means that the velodrome is now protected from the effects of fire.
